.:Phil's Bio

Phil Campbell, the second son of Archie and Mary Campbell was drawn to the stage early on. When he was barely five years old he was begging to get in the show, and he did. He sang “Thunder Road” in the Harlan Kentucky high school gym, and it didn’t scare him away. During the twenty three years he spent with his dad in the theaters of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, his experiences varied from working as Archie’s “straight man” on the Grand Ole Opry, to international tours with the USO, some work in the movies, and as the front man of several bands. He became a lead singer and an accomplished musician on banjo, guitar, bass, and harmonica. He was a cast member of the nationally syndicated “HEE HAW” TV show for four years and the colorful “bartender” and co-host of the Nashville network’s very popular “Club Dance” show with Shelly Mangrum for five years. “The truth is, “ says Phil “ I love to stand on the stage in front of an audience, just me and them. If I do my job right we all have a good time together, and that’s why I love my job so much! ‘Come on out for a unique experience with southern humorist Phil Campbell.
